Essential Oil Tips:

Place 2-3 drops of essential oil in the palm of your hand. Rub over the natural bristles of your hair brush – then brush hair.

Add 5 drops of essential oil to a cotton ball and place in the back of drawers or linen closets.

Add 5 drops to a hankie or tissue and carry with you throughout the day. Try placing the tissue under your pillow while you sleep.

For the bath - add 5-12 drops to a tub of warm water. Fill tub, add oils, swish to disperse in the water. Try adding the oils to a spoonful of honey, a small cup of milk or cream, or to your favorite carrier oil, and then adding to the water.

After a shower apply 5 to 7 drops to a damp wash cloth. Rub briskly over your body.

Use Lemon or Grapefruit essential oil in cleaning water. Wipe kitchen and/or bathroom counters using these cleansing, germicidal oils. Adding a teaspoon of Lemon Oil to the washer (once filled with water) will help remove greasy/oily smells.

Lavender Essential Oil and Your Moods

Adding lavender essential oil to your bath may significantly improve your mood, report researchers at the University of Wolverhampton in England.

A study of 80 women published in the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine found that people who added lavender to their daily baths experienced reduced feelings of anger and frustration and had a more positive outlook.

Melinda Minton, executive director of the Fort Collins, Colorado-based Spa Association isn't surprised. "We have found that lavender inspires clients to unwind," she says. For optimum balance, Minton suggests mixing four drops of lavender oil with 1 ounce of sweet almond oil or grapeseed oil, then pouring in your bath.

Aromatherapy Blends For Romance

These sensuous baths evoke a romantic mood

Earthly Pleasures Bath

6 drops of Sandalwood essential oil

2 drops of Patchouli or Vetiver essential oil

1/2 cup of Epsom salts

1 cup baking soda

Combine essential oils with Epsom salts and baking soda and add to a tub of warm water. Mix thoroughly into water with your hand.

Arabian Nights Bath

Coconut milk creates a rich and moisturizing bath, leaving skin silky and smooth. Ylang Ylang is a rich, exotic scent and is lightened by the orange

2 drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil

3 drops of Sweet Orange essential oil

1 can of coconut milk

Combine essential oils with the coconut milk and add to a tub of warm water. Mix thoroughly into water with your hand.
